Western Alternative Sports Association
About Us

Western Alternative Sports Association (WASA) was born in Denver, Colorado in the fall of 2003 with just 4 adult kickball teams competing for the coveted "Golden Keg".  What started as a fun, social way for a bunch of friends to unwind from the daily stresses of adult life quickly turned into a year round beacon of hope for all adults who longed for the simpler days of their youth!  We offer adult sports you haven't had a chance to play since grade school recess!  Kickball, Dodgeball, Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee... and much more!  With WASA, it's not important who wins or loses, it's how much fun you had playing, and how many great people you were able to meet that matters.  Athletic ability is optional!  That's what WASA is all about....quirky sports, fun people, great sponsors, unique events, and a social atmosphere.  Since 2003, the mass appeal and simple fun of WASA's adult leagues has created a HUGE and loyal following, with nearly 300 teams and over 4500 participants taking to the fields in 2009!

In 2010, WASA embarked on a bold mission to take the fun, social concept of our adult leagues directly to the ones who created and inspired the games we adults enjoy playing so much... the KIDS!  Nearly 3 years in the making, WASA Youth Leagues strive to bring the fun, joy, activity, and friendships back to kids sports!   No high priced membership fees... no $300 uniforms... no tryouts.... no 30 week seasons... no 5-day per week practice / game schedule.... just simple, enjoyable, safe, affordable leagues designed to get kids playing, purely for the fun of it.

WASA is your source for year round fun.  It's where Denver goes to play!  We offer year round co-ed leagues and activities, all at a great price, and each of them a TON of fun!  With several league locations across the Denver metro area, and a focus on creating an inclusive, social atmosphere (what we call the "WASA Spirit"), we're more than just a sports league... we're a community!  At WASA, it's the fun that matters!

Nate Baldwin - Owner / Lead Organizer

Nate Baldwin, the owner of Western Alternative Sports Association moved to the Denver area from his hometown of Milwaukee, WI back in 2003 with a dream of starting a new kind of sports league where everyone could be themselves, and play simply for the joy of playing, just like we all did as kids.  WASA was born, and has struck a chord with people all over metro Denver, turning this tiny little sports league into a regional phenomenon.   Thanks to the overwhelming reception and support of WASA throughout Colorado and the metro Denver region, Nate was able to leave his stagnating telecom career behind and focus on WASA full time, starting in 2005.  In addition to running WASA full time from his home office (WASA HQ), Nate stays busy with the duties of helping raise a young family, and occasionally is able to sneak in a round of golf.  Nate is also a proud member of the Young Professionals Advisory Council, a volunteer board that supports and promotes the mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado.
