What the Heck is WASA??!

Western Alternative Sports Association was born in Denver, CO in the fall of 2003 with just 4 adult kickball teams competing for the coveted ‘Golden Keg’.  What started as a fun, social way for a bunch of friends to unwind from the daily stresses of adult life has turned into a year round beacon of hope for all adults, longing for the simpler days of their youth!

We offer sports you haven’t had a chance to play since you were a geeky grade-schooler! Kickball, Dodgeball, whiffle ball, broomball.... you name it!  With WASA, it’s not important who wins or loses, it’s how much fun you had playing, and how many great people you were able to meet that matters.  Athletic ability is optional!  That’s what WASA is all about.  Quirky sports, fun people, great sponsors and a social atmosphere...what more could you ask for?!

WASA is your source for year round fun!  We offer year round co-ed leagues and activities, including sports like kickball, dodgeball, broomball, ultimate Frisbee, bowling, etc!  With 5 divisions across the metro area, a focus on creating an inclusive, social atmosphere, we're more than just a sports league!  At WASA, it’s the fun that matters! it’s the fun that matters!

Nate Baldwin - Owner / Organizer
Nate Baldwin came to Colorado back in 2003 by way of Milwaukee, WI with a dream of starting a new kind of sports league where everyone could be themselves, and have a great time.  While Nate still bleeds green and gold, and dearly misses a good Klement's Sausage Race, the snowboarding, hiking and great Colorado weather have helped him cope.  Although Nate’s long term plans include worldwide kickball and dodgeball domination and winning the 2010 Masters golf tournament, he spends his days more modestly: running WASA full time, and spending time with his wife Martha, son Elliott, and 2 dogs.  Nate believes that kickball and dodgeball will someday be Olympic sports, that countries should settle their differences with Rock / Paper / Scissors, and that the tomato is a vegetable, and not a fruit.
